Description -
Oriental Puttu Podi is a premium, coarsely ground rice flour specially prepared for making soft and fluffy Kerala-style puttu. Perfectly ground from select raw rice, this flour guarantees authentic texture and flavor in every bite. Hygienically processed and conveniently packaged, it's a staple in South Indian kitchens, ideal for a healthy steamed breakfast, accompanied by kadala, banana, or coconut curry.
Instructions for use:
To prepare Traditional Puttu:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of Oriental Puttu Podi
- Warm water (approx. 1 cup)
- Shredded coconut
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
- In a bowl, add salt to the puttu podi and slowly sprinkle with warm water.
Gently mix with your fingers until the flour is moist and crumbly, but not sticky. This consistency will allow it to hold its shape when pressed.
- Let it rest for 10 to 15 minutes. Fill a cylindrical steamer to prepare puttu by placing alternating layers of grated coconut and moistened flour, beginning and ending with coconut.
- Steam for 5 to 7 minutes or until cooked through.
- Serve hot with kadala curry (black gram curry), ripe plantains, or sugar and ghee for a sweet version.
