Masala Papad

Masala Papad Recipe - a quick, lip-smacking snack that goes well as a side dish with anything.

Recipe Type: Appetizers

Serves: 3-4

Recipe ingredients -
• ¼ cup oil for shallow fries.
• 4-5 large papads or 6-7 small papads
• ½ cup + 2 tablespoons of finely chopped onion
• ½ cup finely chopped tomatoes
• 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro leaves
• 1 teaspoon lime juice
• 1 teaspoon Kashmiri red chili powder/red chili powder
• 1 teaspoon of ground pepper
• 1 teaspoon of chat masala
• black salt as needed
• ⅓ cup of Bhujia

Instruction -
• Combine ½ cup + 1 tablespoon finely chopped onion, ½ cup finely chopped tomatoes, 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro leaves.
• Squeeze 1 teaspoon of lime juice and mix well. Set aside.
• You can fry the papad as is or cut it into squares.
• Heat oil in a frying pan. Add a small piece of papad. If the papad puffs up and rises, then your papads are ready to fry.
• Fry the papads by pressing down with the back of a spatula or spoon. Otherwise, if the papads puff up, it will be difficult to add toppings. Remove the papads with a slotted spoon or tongs. Set aside on an absorbent napkin to absorb excess oil from the papads. Alternatively, you could simply grill the papads.
• Add the ingredients and spread them over the fried/grilled papad. Sprinkle with chat masala, red chili powder, pepper powder, and black salt as needed. Finally, garnish with Bhujia and serve your masala papads immediately.

Grades -
• Simply add the toppings to the papad before serving; otherwise, they will become soggy.
• You can roast or fry papad.
