DESCRIPTION -
Edible gum arabic used in food processing to thicken, emulsify, and stabilize foods such as candy, ice cream, and sweet syrups. It is a locking adhesive. It acts as a cooling agent for the body, thus preventing heat stroke. It has laxative properties, helping with constipation. It is known to be beneficial for pregnant women as it strengthens the spine.
PREPARATION AND USE –
- It is used to make Ladoos with mixed coconut, dried dates, poppy seeds, almonds, and brown sugar fried in clarified butter. It is used to make chikkis (a mixture of edible chewing gum and various nuts).
