Spinach Curry with Vegan Cheese | Palak Paneer Recipe

A healthy green paneer recipe prepared primarily from the thick paste of pureed spinach. Basically, the easy palak paneer recipe comes from popular North Indian or Punjabi cuisine and is usually served with tandoor roti and naan.

  • Preparation time: 10 minutes.
  • Cooking time: 20 minutes.
  • Servings : 3

Ingredients -

For palak paste:

  • 5 cups of water
  • 1 bunch of palak/spinach
  • 1 pinch of ginger
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 3 green chilies

Other ingredients:

  • 3 teaspoons of oil
  • 1 teaspoon of butter
  • 11 paneer/cottage cheese cubes
  • 1 teaspoon cumin/jeera
  • 1 inch of cinnamon
  • 4 teeth
  • 2 cardamom pods / elachi
  • 1 bay leaf / tej patta
  • 2 teaspoons of kasuri methi/dried fenugreek leaves
  • ½ onion (finely chopped)
  • ½ tomato (finely chopped)
  • ¼ cup of water
  • ¾ teaspoon of salt
  • ¼ teaspoon garam masala
  • 2 tablespoons of cream / malai

Instructions -

  • Take blanched palak, 1 inch of ginger, 1 clove of garlic and 4 green chilies.
  • Mix until you get a smooth paste without adding water. Keep aside.
  • Now, in a large skillet, heat 3 teaspoons of oil, 1 teaspoon of butter, and toast the spices until fragrant.
  • Also, add ½ onion and sauté until golden.
  • Also, add ½ tomato and sauté until the tomatoes become soft and mushy.
  • Add the prepared palak paste, ¼ cup water and ¾ teaspoon salt.
  • Mix well, adjusting the consistency as needed.
  • Then add the roasted paneer and mix well.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes or until the paneer absorbs the flavor.
  • Turn off the heat and add 1/4 teaspoon of garam masala, 1 teaspoon of kasuri methi, and 2 tablespoons of cream. Mix well.
  • Finally, serve restaurant-style palak paneer with roti/naan.
